Welcome to Katina

Welcome!  Let us tell you a little bit about why we embarked on this venture. As a team we heard countless stories of people grappling with the challenges of accessing mental health support in the community. Often, they found themselves struggling to locate the right practitioner to address their specific needs or they experienced frustrating delays in starting treatment, often submitting inquiries and waiting days or weeks for a response.   

Our vision for Katina is centered around addressing these challenges in a compassionate and ethical manner.  We wanted to find a better way to manage referrals within our busy regional group practices. So we embarked on this journey to create a referral management system above and beyond what was offered in our practice management software. We recognized that the work to obtain, keep and engage prospective clients is the most difficult job of them all and needed a dedicated platform.

We wanted Katina to be dynamic and responsive to meet the needs of our clients from the first point of contact and to gather all the necessary information, so that there were no surprises or delays come first session. We wanted to streamline the process for our admin staff  too to facilitate consistent processes,  reduce double handling, prompt follow-up with clients and within the admin team themselves. We wanted the ability to effectively triage new referrals and quickly assign them to an available clinician. More importantly we wanted a system that could keep up with changes in our practice profile to make onboarding new clinicians, filling calendars and handing over clients a breeze. 

Ultimately, our grand vision is for Katina to grow to a point where it can foster open and collegial communication among separate practices in the community. This collaborative environment will help identify the best-suited clinicians for referrals that might not align with the specialties of individual practices, promoting a seamless and effective network of mental health support.

Our team is a diverse and skilled bunch, each of us bringing something unique to the table. We have two clinical psychologists on board, Nicole and Veronica, who both hold doctoral-level qualifications. They also have experience in research and business administration, adding a valuable perspective to our team.

Katina, is our inspiration and we named the platform after her to honor her hard work and dedication. She is our practice manager and co-director. She is a seasoned pro, boasting two decades of experience in allied health administration. You could say she's the backbone of our operations, keeping everything running smoothly.

Then, there's our software engineer, Manish, who's not your typical tech wizard. With a decade of experience under his belt, Manish has already built three SAAS products, led engineering teams in both enterprise and startup settings, and even raised venture capital funding.

We're not just a team; we're a close-knit group of professionals dedicated to making a difference in the world of psychology. And we're based in the picturesque region of Victoria, which adds a touch of charm to our work.
